Bespoke tailoring stands as the pinnacle of the tailor’s art. A garment crafted by hand to your exact specifications, requiring over 80 hours of delicate and precise work.

At Gruber’s and Son, bespoke tailoring is at the heart of everything we do.

Our approach combines traditional tailoring craftsmanship with a contemporary perspective, creating garments that are elegant, comfortable and designed to endure. Every suit and jacket is thoughtfully considered, from the silhouette and structure to the smallest finishing details.

Whether it’s a structured English silhouette or a softer Italian silhouette each garment is cut and shaped to you. Every bespoke garment is shaped by hand, with no detail overlooked. Through careful fittings and meticulous craftsmanship, we achieve a flawless fit, exceptional comfort and a bespoke finish.

The Essence of Bespoke

The Process

Schedule an Appointment

Visit us at our Greenwich showroom to discuss placing an order, or you may schedule one now.

Styling

Over coffee or perhaps something stronger, we’ll sit together and take some time to evaluate your lifestyle and the type of suit or jacket that’s going to work for you.

Taking Measurements

Once we’ve agreed on the style of your order and the fabrics you like, we will take measurements to accurately assess your figure and translate these dimensions into a unique paper pattern.

Basted Fitting

A few weeks later, your order will be ready for an initial ‘basted’ fitting. At this stage the garment will be hand sewn together with white baste stitching. This fitting allows us to make any structural adjustments necessary to perfect the garment’s fit.

Forward Fitting

Fast forward another few weeks, and your suit will be close to completion. At this fitting, we check the finer details of fit, and make further tweaks to ensure you will be as comfortable as can be.

Final Fitting

At this appointment, your garments will be complete minus the hand-finished elements like buttonholes. Think of this as the ultimate quality check for both you and us, to make sure everything is perfect.

Finishing Details

After the final fitting, your garment will be completed and delicately pressed to a flawless finish. All top-stitching and buttonholes will be hand-sewn with the ultimate care at this point.

Collection

After five to seven weeks and an average of three fittings, your new garments will be ready to collect. Several thousand stitches, and around eighty hours of work go into every single one of our bespoke suits.
